Arabica vs Robusta

There are two ecologically different species of coffee in the world, they are Coffea Arabica, also called Arabica, and Coffea Canephora, also called Robusta.

Arabica and Robusta are both species of coffee, but that is as far as the similarities go.

Robusta is a coarser coffee which must be grown at lower altitudes than Arabica. It is a prolific producer who's beans have a higher caffeine content and greater yield per plant than Arabica.  However it is lacking in flavour and body when compared to Arabica. Check out the Robusta page for more infomation.

Arabica is a much hardier plant in terms of plant physiology as it can survive at much higher altitudes and still produce a crop in these poorer soil conditions.  The beans it produces are far superior to Robusta in terms of flavour and body.  Check out the Arabica page for more infomation.
