Arabica coffee is best grown at least 5000ft above sea level to get the most from the plant. There needs be a high level of rainfall and the soil must be very porous so the plant's root system can spread deeply.

This harsh environment and altitude best suites the Arabica plant’s physiology. The plant actually goes into stress when producing fruit. This is stress is caused by the plant forcing itself to put only the best nutrients into its beans. The beans it produces are consistently far superior in flavour and quality than Robusta.

This is why high altitude or mountain grown Arabica coffee is so sought after; its beans are much higher in quality, flavour and texture than Robusta, while having less caffeine.
