Tim Hughes first met the Cariappa’s at their Indian Cafe and Cyber Lounge. Tim initial tasted Papua New Guinean coffee at that cafe, when caffeine was required to stay up late to play computer games and discuss world politics. Thus began his love of Papua New Guinean coffee. When Shyam decided to open Kokoda Coffee in 2004, Tim volunteered his time and effort for free, just to help out and learn about the coffee. He proved to be exceptionally talented at roasting coffee and, as with the rest of our staff, shares an intense passion for all that is Kokoda Coffee. Tim comes from a family with British heritage and as such, Tim used to be a tea man. Tim spent several months learning the art of coffee roasting and tasting. Being of a meticulous nature he is our Production Manager, and so is solely responsible for the unique and totally dependable taste that defines Kokoda Coffee. Whilst still enjoying a good cuppa every now and then, Tim’s preference is now a delicious Kokoda Coffee latte, at just the right temperature with a dash of chocolate sprinkles on top.
