Where is your coffee from? Print E-mail

Have you ever wondered where the coffee you buy originated from

Years ago coffee was just another hot beverage. Today, coffee is infused into twenty-first century life. Just for the fun of it, try your hand at answering the following questions!

1. Where does my coffee come from?
Most roasters order raw coffee from an Importer or from an Exporter in the coffee's country of origin. Kokoda coffee obtains its raw coffee directly from growers and plantations in the country of origin. Local growers benefit enormously because there is no middleman. You can read more about that on our Corporate Social Responsibility page . It is the surest way we know to ensure the integrity of Our Coffee.

2. Is my coffee blended?
Most coffees on the market are blended because the roaster depends on a middleman for his supply. A roaster has to blend different coffees to try and produce a good coffee.
There is no guarantee with either the consistency or the quality of each batch of coffee. Kokoda coffee buys its coffee directly from the growers at specific locations which is why you get a coffee that is simply superb – cup after cup after cup!

3. Why does my coffee taste so bitter?

Over-roasted coffee beans are dark, with an oily surface. The oily surface is the coffee's aromatic content with all its flavours and aroma, when exposed to air, causes rapid deterioration. This lack of aromatics, together with the over-roasted beans, make up that bitter sensation on the tongue with an unpleasant aftertaste.

4. Coffee Smarts - Does your roaster have them?

Would you take medical advice from a mechanic or automotive advice from a florist?
Of course not. Similarly, would you buy your coffee from a roaster who controls only the last two stages of the coffee production process?
Would you not rather buy from a roaster with a lifetime of experience in the coffee industry; someone who roasts coffee from a country of origin where he has actually lived and worked in the coffee industry for more than 20 years?
You get the full Kokoda Coffee Experience when you buy our coffee.

5. How do you have your coffee?
Have you ever woken with a deep seated need for your coffee fix, only to find that you have no milk and sugar in the pantry?Does being forced to have your coffee black make you queasy?
Is the situation so bad that you brave a trip to the corner store, clad in your dressing grown and house slippers to purchase a reprieve from the bitter but necessary addiction to your morning coffee? If this describes you even a little, please, do not abuse your senses any further!!!! Come into Kokoda Coffee immediately and we will prescribe a suitable treatment for you.

A good coffee should be able to be drunk black because it shouldn't be bitter. It won’t need additives like milk or sugar to smother the taste. Coffee in its purest form should be a pleasure to drink, a delight and stimulation of the senses. Now that is Kokoda Coffee!
